The Natural Epicurean Academy of Culinary Arts trains culinary professionals in the theory and practice of variety of plant-based cooking styles including macrobiotic, Ayurvedic, vegetarian, vegan and raw & living foods. We emphasize the preparation of locally-available, seasonal natural foods to delight the senses and promote good health. We position culinary professionals to be meaningful contributors to the vital transformation of our healthcare and food industries. Our culinary students emerge from the Natural Epicurean with the foundational knowledge and practical skills to uphold high standards for food quality and cookery and to help solve the practical problems that are at the heart of our society's healthcare crisis.
We are building a team of professional culinary arts educators who have a passion for plant-based cooking and holistic health and wellness. We are currently accepting applications for the part-time and full-time Chef Instructors
  • Lead hands-on, demonstration and lecture based classes in conformity with Natural Epicurean lesson plans and academic standards
  • Demonstrate techniques and concepts as required by the curriculum
  • Deliver clear, concise and organized lectures and lecture/demonstrations required by the curriculum
  • Assess student performance through observation and regular interaction, along with written and practical examinations
  • Maintain a positive, focused, and outcomes oriented learning environment during class
  • safety and sanitation
  • Maintain kitchen organization and supervise cleaning of kitchens and classrooms
  • Develop and submit accurate class requisitions in a timely fashion
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance and performance
  • Attend meetings and faculty orientation as required
  • Perform other duties related to marketing, promotion, and admissions events as assigned – Open House, public classes, faculty meetings, etc…
  • Integrating professional network with students
  • Ongoing curriculum development
  • Recipe and menu development
  • Culinary school diploma/certificate and/or other formal food, diet and nutrition education; Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Strong cooking and technical skills; especially related to whole and natural foods cooking
  • Minimum of 5 years culinary or food related experience
  • Excellent verbal and interpersonal communications skills; sense of humor, flexibility and ability to work independently and as a member of a dynamic team
  • Comfort working in a 100% plant-based kitchen
  • Understanding and application of kitchen sanitation, cost controls and inventory practices
  • Fine dining and previous teaching experience preferred
  • Ability to work various shifts including evenings and weekends as needed
  • Food Service Manager Certification
